Climate
Mongolia is a very complex country that doesn't have a specific type of climate. It has long winters and short summers. Depending where in the country you might be you might have more desert like weather, cause of the Gobi desert in the south. If you live around the mountain ranges in Mongolia you will find it there is not a lot of precipitation, only around 20 to 30 percentage. Mongolia has a average of 257 days with out clouds.
Seasonality
Most of the time the temperature is around freezing in the winter the lowest is -20 C around January and February. In the summer around the Gobi desert it reaches 38 C and in Ulaanbaar around 33 C. Making the annual range of temperature 20 C. Mongolia has more seasonality then Denver. It can reach sometimes -40 C creating permafrost in parts of the country. the season are short but has a quick and sudden change to them. Mongolia is referred to as a "extreme variability", they have blizzard then dust storms and pastures that hold permafrost too.

I didn't know that Mongolia's climate is that dramatic. I also didn't know it could get that cold in Mongolia. Great information, it was easy to read and understand.
ReplyDeleteGreat information. That is interesting that Mongolia's temperature can be really cold in the winters and ridiculously hot in the summer with barely any precipitation. Good pictures to depict Mongolia also.
